Odin Scherer is a guitarist and composer from Katonah, New York residing in Brooklyn, New York. This project, ‘Botanic’, features Odin’s intuitive rhythmic compositions written during the pandemic between Austin, Texas; Richmond, Virginia; and Brooklyn, New York. ‘Botanic’ features Walter Stinson on double bass, Alfredo Colon on EWI and alto saxophone, and Steven Crammer on drums and cymbals.
Nora Stanley is a New York-based saxophonist and composer whose interests and work live at the intersection of composed and improvised music. With strong roots in the jazz, afro-cuban and rock traditions, Nora’s music emphasizes interaction and collaboration in a contemporary context. Her sound is melody-driven and reaches to expand the possibilities of the harmonic realm. Nora's quartet includes Noah Gershwin on guitar, Ethan Cohn on bass & Chase Elodia on drums.
A native of the Bay Area, Nora holds a B.A. and B.M. from Oberlin College and Conservatory where she studied with Gary Bartz, Eddie Henderson and Billy Hart. In 2017 she attended the Brooklyn Conservatory’s School for Improvisational Music where she worked with Tim Berne, Drew Gress and Kris Davis. In line with her deep interest in other cultures and their music, Nora has studied and performed internationally in Spain, Cuba and Brazil.
